2006-W Reverse Proof Gold Eagles
To celebrate the 20th Anniversary
of the Gold Eagle, the US Mint issued 2006 20th Anniversary Gold Eagle Sets.The three coin set included the limited 2006-W Reverse Proof Gold Eagle. This was the first time that the US Mint had released a coin using the special reverse proof finish. This type of finish features mirrored raised elements of the coin against a frosted background. This is the reverse of the traditional cameo proof finish.
