2006-W Reverse Proof Gold Eagles

To celebrate the 20th Anniversary of the Gold Eagle, the US Mint issued 2006 20th Anniversary Gold Eagle Sets.

The three coin set included the limited 2006-W Reverse Proof Gold Eagle. This was the first time that the US Mint had released a coin using the special reverse proof finish. This type of finish features mirrored raised elements of the coin against a frosted background. This is the reverse of the traditional cameo proof finish.
