The 2008-W Uncirculated Gold Eagle was the collectible version of the popular bullion coin. These coins are differentiated by the appearance of the "W" mint mark to signify the West Point Mint. They were offered by the United States Mint as individual one ounce, one half ounce, one quarter ounce, and one tenth ounce coins. A complete 4 Coin Set was also available.

Due high premiums throughout the year, collectors ordered very few of the 2008-W Uncirculated Gold Eagles, resulting in very low mintages. These low mintage coins have found a renewed interest from collectors after the fractional versions were discontinued.
